Baked Apple with Cinnamon Sauce

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180° C.
  • Cut off the top of each apple. Remove the cores with a spoon or an apple corer. Make sure you’ve made enough space to hold the filling.
  • For the filling:
  • If using a vanilla pod, use a knife to slice open one side of the pod. Then use the flat side of the knife to scrape the seeds from the inside of the pod. Mix in the oatmeal, Nuts & Berries, maple syrup, egg white, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  • Place the filling into both apples. Put the lids back on. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • For the sauce:
  • Mix Whey Protein and milk. Heat gently.
  • Serve the baked apples warm with the cinnamon sauce.
  • Enjoy!

Which apples make the best baked apples?

We recommend Boskoop apples. These are tart and have a firm consistency. They play well with the sweet filling and keep their consistency when baked. If you can’t find a Boskoop, opt for Granny Smith, Jonagold, or browse through your local apple selection. Supermarkets may have some apples labeled as cooking apples.
