Cheat’s Caramel Cheesecake Doughnuts
A quick fix for a doughnut craving!
You can make these salted caramel cheesecake doughnuts in under 10 minutes, without deep-frying or having to make bread dough. We pan fry small, fluffy bread rolls in some butter, coat in cinnamon-sugar and stuff with our salted caramel protein cream.
Preparation
-
Combine the filling ingredients in a small bowl, mixing until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag (if you don’t have this, just leave in the bowl for now).
-
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon then set aside.
-
Add the butter to a medium frying pan and melt over a low heat. Once the butter is almost fully melted, add the bread rolls to the pan and fry, turning occasionally, until all sides are coated in butter and are lightly golden.
-
Remove the bread rolls from the heat. Toss each bread roll in the cinnamon-sugar until coated all over and set onto a wire rack.
-
Cut a small slit into the side of each bread roll using a paring knife. If using a piping bag, pipe a generous amount of filling into the slit of each roll. If you don’t have a piping bag, use a spoon to fill each roll with filling. Serve the doughnuts warm.
- Enjoy!
Why not make a PB&J doughnut by using our peanut butter instead of the salted caramel protein cream & adding a couple of spoonfuls of low-sugar strawberry jam to the filling.
