Muhammara – Roasted Red Pepper Dip

If the hummus and baba ghanouj are getting stale, you’ll love the new flavor of muhammara! Vegan, gluten-free, and we’ve pepped it up with protein. This protein muhammara is the perfect dip for any party.

Ingredients

6 Persons

    red bell peppers
  • 4 tbsp
    water
  • 80 g
    walnuts, toasted in a dry pan
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 2.5 tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 90 g
    Vegan protein bread
  • 2 tbsp
    pomegranate molasses
  • 1 tsp
    red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp
    sumac
  • 0.5 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • optional
    olive oil, lemon juice, fresh parsley and coriander

Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 230° C.

  • 2

    Prick the peppers several times all around with a fork. Put them on a sheet of tin foil and roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes.

    Take the peppers out of the oven and cover with the foil. Set aside to cool. Once cool, slide the skin off of each one.

    Put all the ingredients into a blender. Blend until you hit the smoothness you want.

    Season with salt to taste.

    Serve drizzled with a glug of olive oil, lemon juice, and sprinkled with fresh herbs as desired.
