Dried goji berries in organic quality are truly the king of superfoods. They combine the best of all essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals in a compact form. The phytochemicals in particular, like sesquiterpenes, play an important role in the vitality and health of our body.

Goji berries are an excellent source of energy and contain a lot of antioxidants. They have an alkaline effect and can  also contribute to the "neutralization" of the body. In the berries' country of origin, China, goji berries are firmly rooted in traditional culture, thanks to their many beneficial properties.

foodspring's goji berries are harvested in the Chinese province of Ningxia. The premium Goji berries get plenty of sunlight and grow under the best natural conditions in the Chinese highlands. The berries are carefully processed  so as not to damage the precious skin.

We do not use any sulphurous preservatives when drying the organic goji berries. Goji berries in organic quality means: No use of chemical fertilisers or pesticides. We ensure this quality through certified organic inspection bodies in Germany with on-site quality control.

Organic goji berries are true all-rounders: An extraordinary composition of vitamins, phytochemicals and nutrients make them a first-class superfood. Even protein fans will acquire a taste for these berries. The berry contains all of the essential amino acids (BCAAs) needed for muscle building making it an ideal snack when on a muscle building diet.

Organic goji berries as a supply of vitamins and minerals

Thanks to their organic quality, our goji berries are especially rich in vitamin A (beta-carotene), vitamin B, vitamin C and vitamin E. By contrast, ordinary goji berries are often treated with chemical fertilisers which results in a lower nutrient density.

The mineral balance in your body can also benefit from regularly eating goji berries. 50 grams of dried goji berries is enough to cover half your daily iron requirement. An iron deficiency is one of the most common deficiencies when it comes to micro nutrients. The berries also provide potassium, copper and selenium.

Organic Goji berries are extremely rich in antioxidants. Our body is exposed to large amounts of oxidative stress as a result of physical exertion and stressful everyday life. Our body is prone to diseases and infections without the protection of antioxidants. And oxidative stress is responsible for our aging process. A sufficient supply of antioxidants reduces oxidative stress and combats free radicals in the body.

Goji berries for healthy eyes

Medical research has investigated the effect of goji berries on the eye. The carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin contained in goji berries are important for the regulation and reduction of intraocular pressure. Increased intraocular pressure occurs largely as a result of cataracts. It is currently being researched whether or not goji berries can also have a preventative effect on eye diseases.

The various effects of dried goji berries

Buying organic goji berries online – what you need to look out for

Dried goji berries and other superfoods are currently all the rage in the world of smart foods. As a result of this high demand, many goji berry suppliers are taking the opportunity to create cost-effective products with low-grade raw materials.

Studies carried out across Germany by the Chemical and Veterinary Investigations Office in Stuttgart determined that 12 out of the 13 conventionally grown goji berries they tested were polluted with pesticides and plant protection products. Residues of heavy metals were also detected. When buying goji berries you should make sure that they have not been sulphured, since this preservation process destroys the vitamin B1 contained in the berries. The sulphur prevents the berry from maturing and changing colour.

That's why when buying goji berries you should check the organic quality of the raw materials. Natural ingredients from certified organic sources are well tolerated by the body and are easier to absorb than synthetically treated substances. Goji berries in organic quality are also free of pesticides, chemical fertilisers, sulphurous preservatives and additional flavourings.

foodspring's organic goji berries come from the famous Chinese highlands around the province of Ningxia. There, the berries are only treated with natural fertilisers which allows them to retain their full nutritional profile and action spectrum. The colour of these goji berries is deep red and the taste particularly intense. Goji berries treated and processed with additives often taste bitter and tend to be much more dull in colour.

You can buy premium organic goji berries from the Chinese Ningxia Highlands right here in our online shop.
