How would you describe churros in a nutshell? A perfect seasonal treat, whether your holiday celebrates fried foods or you just want a winter warmer! Not to mention sweet, crispy, and… greasy. Our reworked recipe has better nutritional values and cuts tons of calories. Let us show you how to make low-fat churros at home!

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 60 g
    margarine
  • 0.5 tsp
    salt
  • 230 ml
    water
  • 100 g
    spelt flour
  • 30 g
    Whey Protein Vanilla
  • 0.5 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3
    eggs

Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 180° C.

    Melt the margarine in a pot over medium heat. Add the salt and water. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.

    Add the flour, Whey Protein, and cinnamon and stir well. Add the eggs one by one, stirring after each egg is added.

    Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a star tip. Pipe the dough onto a piece of parchment paper in lengths of about 10cm.

    Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.

    Stir together the remaining cinnamon with the sugar. Dip the churros in the cinnamon sugar to coat them. Serve with Protein Cream to dip.
