What is jackfruit?Jackfruit is a gigantic tropical fruit. Most of the time it's used as a sweet ingredient for desserts or just eaten as a snack. But lately, the fruit has risen to fame as a meat substitute thanks to its pullable consistency. Burgers, tacos, and stews are just some of the dishes that have gotten the jackfruit treatment. When it's unripe, jackfruit has a neutral flavor, lending itself perfectly to just about any dish with the right combination of spices. The flesh has a stringy consistency that resembles pulled chicken, pork or beef.
